I did an uber eat order cause I was too hungover to drive around but really wanted Mexican. I saw that this taco shop was featured on Guy Fieri's show so I knew it had to be good. I ordered my boyfriend and I two burritos. I ordered the Surf and Turf Cali burrito and then a regular carne asada burrito. I also asked for extra red and green salsa. They gave us so much extra salsa and I'm so glad they did. The surf and turf burrito was literally the biggest burrito I've ever seen in my life. I did not realize it was going to be that big. My god. We basically ate that burrito for breakfast, lunch and as a snack between the both of us! Just the ONE burrito. Def worth the money. Nothing too crazy in price. But food was bomb.
Came back for the Surf n Turf Cali and brought some friends to try it out (it fed all three of us and we were incredibly stuffed). The flavors are amazing, it hits the spot every time, make sure to ask for extra chipotle sauce! My favorite burrito in all of San Diego without a doubt. The owners are really kind and care about their business and it definitely shows!
Fast friendly service that includes chips and salsa while u wait for your order. Both combos were very delicious and plentiful. The rice and beans were fresh and had a homemade taste to them. The chile verde came shredded and not bad, but I'm used to having chunks of pork in my chile verde so this was different. I still prefer chunks vs shredded pork. Guess they make it like this to make it easier to make burritos if the meat is shredded. They had plenty of tables empty for lunchtime and it was very clean and neat. They also have a couple of big screen TVs if ur bored.
BEST taco shop in San Diego. Affordable, friendly, delicious, and addicting. Must try. If you love carne asada fries, this is the spot. A half order will feed 2.
Chuyz is a top tier, solid "good" Taco shop. Honestly nothing too unique about it as it's a strip mall joint with walk up service, salsa bar, and limited seating. I'd honestly go here over the majority of other spots, but it lacks that unique "umph" to give it 5 stars. Absolutely nothing wrong with Chuyz other than being a pretty typical Taco Shop experience. I've been back multiple times and would recommend. Only giving 4 stars because I cannot give 4.5. This is a solid 4.5-4.6 rating spot.
